We immediately mobilized after a catastrophic flood hit the areas along the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river in the districts of Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading of Nepal. Devastation caused by the flood is widespread with entire villages at several places completely wiped out. 1300+ confirmed dead, more than 3000 still missing and infrastructure damages worth millions of USD. And the survivors are now left with no home and no livelihood. Children don’t have schools to got to and the elderly don’t have anywhere to buy there medicines from. New and expecting mothers are of another concern.
To mount a relief effort while the main roads are swept away meant traveling through mud roads that are slippery and dangerous due to the ongoing monsoon rain. The lack of any accommodation and health services mounted additional challenges. Yet our team has launched multiple relief convoys just with hope that we will get to serve the people in need. The challenges will always be there but we will keep on pushing as we are helping people who have survived and facing a much greater challenge.
