Recently, our organization had the privilege of hosting an orientation session for the future social advocates of St. Xavier’s College, Maitighar, enrolled in the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program. This session aimed to ignite their passion for volunteering & social work by introducing them to our initiative focused on childhood cancer relief in Nepal.

Our team delved into the landscape of childhood cancer in Nepal, highlighting challenges and existing support systems using presentations. We also shared a poetry highlighting a mother’s distress when her young child battles with childhood cancer. The BSW students, brimming with curiosity and a genuine desire to make a difference, actively engaged with the session. They asked us thought-provoking questions, demonstrating their keen understanding of the social aspects of childhood cancer.
The exchange of ideas was truly inspiring. We shared our experiences and the impact of our work, while the students provided insightful perspectives and innovative ideas to contribute to the fight against childhood cancer. This two-way dialogue fostered a sense of mutual excitement about the potential for collaboration.
We are confident that these future social workers will become powerful advocates for children battling cancer. Their dedication and passion leave us optimistic about the future of childhood cancer relief in Nepal. We want to extend our special thanks to Krishna Thapa Sir for the invitation. We look forward to continued collaboration and support from everyone at Xavier’s Social Work team!
